First Day of School 2014

The Summer has come to an end... The kids have mixed feelings, excited to see friends, but could have used another month of Summer. :) Here they are!

The last year they will all be at Bauder Elementary. Mac is the ruler of the school in 5th grade. :) Nate is a 4th grader and Elizabeth a first grader. Elly has decided she wants to go by Elizabeth in 1st grade. Although she still does not have it perfected, so after writing it a few times, I'm guessing she'll be back to Elly. :)

As they are getting on the bus this year, Mac has dreams of being a veterinarian or actor, Nate a professional baseball player (because football players have a better chance of getting hurt...so glad he has that figured out:)) and Elly a nurse that takes care of babies. Oh the places they'll go...

A Sunny Saturday

Spring sports have begun! Again Nate is playing flag football and Mac is playing soccer. And again, Elly has not had the option to play.:) She would like to play soccer, but as her brothers weren't playing when they were 5, we decided to not add to our crazy schedule. Fortunately with Nate's games, she has two other little sisters to run around with. Here's some pics from today.

Here's some pictures of Nate on defense. I forgot I had my camera for the first half of the game, which is when he played offense. He did catch and run the ball for a touchdown though!

We were able to hit the park afterwards to play with some friends. This little one with Elly is a little sister to a boy in her kindergarten class. She loves Mel!

Later we headed to Mac's soccer game. You can see the weather heading in! It was beautiful all morning, but the weather man is calling for possible snow tomorrow. I hope not! In the first couple pics Mac is playing defense.

He then got to play goalie. I was a bit nervous watching him play there, being the last line of defense, but he did great as you'll see from some of his smiles. He stopped all but one...which was a great shot. Even getting a congrats at the end from a buddy.

Can you believe how big they're getting?! Nate still kind of looks small on the football field, but he is, and his team is mainly 3rd graders playing 4th graders. They're a good team, although they're definitely being challenged this season. Nate's learning that you don't always win and we've had lots of talks about still having a good attitude and being an encouraging teammate. He's an intense one! Mac's been fun to watch this season. He's getting more aggressive and persistant with his playing. HE looks big on the soccer field! I really can't believe how big he is these days! He's busting out of his size 10 jeans and stealing my flip flops. It's crazy...

Fall Happenings

It may still be Fall, but it's feeling like the middle of Winter today! Here's some pics before the snow settled in...

Happy Birthday Sam!

Kid's annual walk-a-thon! The kids ran great! Nate actually won a season's registration to play hockey this Winter...so we'll be doing that come January.

Mac running!

I ran with Elly...sort of! She wanted me to run with her, but took off right out of the gates! I was bobbing and weaving around kindergarteners and finally gave up! Caught her on the next lap!

Some farmers visited...I mean Grandma and Papa!

We went to pumpkin patch and the kids ran on top of a hay maze...

Did a real corn maze...

...and found some pumpkins.

Nate played flag football. His team did awesome...playing 8 games in one week for the playoffs. They lost and the beginning and had to fight their way through the loser's bracket. Ended up losing in the championship game in triple overtime.

Going for the pick!

Since Nate didn't get a good photo in the last post. We may have to limit this kid on times he can be football player for Halloween. He did make a mean Clay Matthews though...

Even redid his commercial...

The kids have gone to a couple CSU football games. We signed them up for the Junior Ram's Club this year. For $40, they get into all football, volleyball and basketball games free. Being 5 minutes from the university, seemed to make sense. This game they got to go on the field and high five the players as they ran on after half-time.

Elly got a pic with Cam the Ram.

And finally the big 1-0 birthday. We decided to make this a big event and used miles to get Sam and Mac to Hollywood. Mac had no idea... They went to the beach, Universal Studios, Santa Monica pier and more beach. Mac loves the outdoors...particularly the beach, but also loves big productions. He gets the big picture, so we thought universal studios would be up his alley. It was! Happy Birthday Mac!

Happy Halloween

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

Here's Elly's kindergarten class...can you find her?!

 photo 132_zps3638f5d8.jpg
There's our kitty cat! Ever since I asked Elly what she wanted to be for Halloween, she's wanted to be a Pirate Princess. However, when we put on her costume 5 minutes before we had to leave for her party...she put her fists to her side and yelled, "This is too itchy!" Nothing could convince her to keep on her costume. Fortunately it was just dress up clothes we already had, so she found some cat ears in our dress up bin and we went with the cat. Some black clothes and eyeliner quickly did the trick.

The kids do a parade for the parents to show off their costumes before heading to their individual Halloween parties.

Wasn't ready for Nate quite yet, so just got the back shot. As you can see though, he made a great Clay Matthews! This is what he has been saying he was growing his hair out for. However, I think he's grown a liking for his golden locks and I'm not sure he'll be cutting them anytime soon. His new nickname at school is "Thor". :)

 photo 144_zps1375a67a.jpg
So I've always had the rule that you can't be anything scary...but Mac has wanted to be a vampire for 2 years. Last year we settled with a vampire bat. However, this year after his pleas to be Count Dracula...I figured he could do it as long as he wasn't too scary. He knew exactly how he wanted his costume to be...isn't he smashing?!

One more picture from Elly's Halloween party...

We ended the night with trick-or-treating with our good friends. Our annual tradition to join them at Claire's parent's house where they serve chili from their garage to trick-or-treaters. They're known as the "chili house." We visit, take the kids trick-or-treating around their neighborhood, then visit some more. It was a great time as always. The kids did a show for us...

We came home to a trick. We've gone to our friends house for the past 5-6 years, so our neighbors always play tricks on us since we're not home to pass out candy. Last year, our pumpkins were all over the yard...this year, they wrapped our hose through our front door and railing, so it took about 10 minutes to get into our house. We were giggling at their creativity. I also checked our mail the next morning with our mailbox full of mulch. Our poor mailman...

First day of school...and Elly's in kindergarten!

The boys started school this past Tuesday...

 photo 014_zps1cb2f88d.jpg
Waiting for the bus. Mac starting 4th and Nate 3rd. The boys lost a couple of their buddies at the bus stop to Middle school this year.

For kindergarten, there was a staggered start. So Elly only went to school on Thursday of this past week. Here's Elly's first day of school..

Elly's teacher, Mrs. Hersh. She was also Mac's second grade teacher, we're excited for Elly to have her!

Elly was fine until she sat in this seat. While Mrs. Hersh was giving directions, she would not take her eyes off me. Whenever we made eye contact, she said "I do not want to stay here." We then sat with her while "The Kissing Hand" was read. Seriously...not a good book to read to the parents! It was a good thing Elly was having a tough time, because I knew I had to put on a good front for her! After the story, I let Sam try to talk her into staying, but fortunately it just took a teacher's aide to talk to her and she let us leave with a tear. Whew, wasn't expecting this from my confident little girl!

Bauder does not have a 1/2 day class, so all the classes are full day. If you only do 1/2, you pick up your kid at lunch. Not the ideal situation for 1/2 day, but we're going with it. I'm not ready for Elly to go full day, nor do I think it's necessary...so I pick her up at lunch. She gets all the academics in the morning, but misses specials. Ah well, she has the rest of her school career for that! I'm hoping the year goes well with the early pick up!

 photo 020_zps52599050.jpg
Elly's first day on the bus was today. All morning, she was adamant that she would not go to kindergarten. Fortunately a light switched about 1/2 hour before go time and she let her brother's take care of her. I thought this was sweet with Mac holding her hand.

 photo 022_zpsbc65dc65.jpg
Not entirely positive about this!

 photo 023_zpsfec45e24.jpg
Here comes the bus...

 photo 024_zps3f877f9e.jpg
And she's on! She sat between the boys and they said she was hanging her head on the bus. They talked her through it though and she happily held Nate's hand as he walked her to her class line, played with her until the bell rang, then walked with her back to the line. I'm hoping each day gets easier in the morning!

Here's a couple other funny shots I found...

Mac was cutting onions for me for the first time and got to experience his eyes tearing up. When I turned around next, he was wearing these goggles. Goofy kid!
